Love tests are popular

Google’s search engine results page for ‘Love Test’ will return a whopping 52,600,000 and with it’s ever growing database, that number will likely continue to grow. This is a good indicator that the love and personality tests available today are not only of popular interest, they are also offering some practicality to their users.

Different types of love tests

The love tests available offer testing in the variety of areas including love (in general), personality types, your chances of falling in love, you and your partners compatability, astrological compatibility and more. The results span compatibility information, the health of current your relationship, your chances of romance, relationship issues and other romance issues. Many available love tests can be taken online for free.

Some love tests and quizzes are offered on the basis of using a questionnaire, while others use short stories and novels. Other tests ask the participants to rate certain songs or lyrics. All are devised to determine the individual’s personality along with their partner’s personality traits. Some scientific basis is used, though these tests must be kept generic enough to be usable online for administration through the general public, without any follow up by a professional practitioner. Most participants for tests of this nature tend to be adolescent to young adult, never married, single, with a propensity for participating in other types of tests and quizzes, similar to those found in magazines.

Six Love type tests

One common love test is one commonly repeated on the internet, in different variations, that includes questions such as “If my partner had an affair I would recover from it easily” and “If you are going to love a person, will you know after a short time?”. This quiz identifies six types of love:  Pragma, Eros, Banquet, Mania, Storge and Ludus. Your ‘love type’ is dependant on your personality and the culture in which you were raised.

  • The Pragma love type is practical. They choose their mate based on rational thinking and decision, based on who is the best fit.
  • The Eros type is passionate, full of lust and attracted physically. They tend to get the butterflies in their tummy.
  • On the contrary, the Banquet love type expresses themselves by making sacrifices for another person.
  • The Mania type is a jealous, obsessive love, that is intimate and intense but lacks communication and can behave irrationally.
  • Storge is the friendship lover. This love type wants a friend and companion that will share likes and dislikes based on closeness, trust, security and affection.
  • Ludus love types treat love as a game, they want to have fun, as opposed to a serious relationship.
