There’s lots of words that sound similar in German and English for various animals. We most often call dogs, “dogs” but we could also call them hounds. In German, the word for dog is “hund.” Of course, there’s also German words for animals that don’t correlate as easily to English. The three different types of genders in German speech can be quite confusing. Der, das, and die all introduce a new word. Hence, masculine, feminine and neuter words must be memorized as such, and knowing a word’s gender can help you understand the meaning of a German sentence. This is especially important when you later work with the genitive, accusative and dative cases! So, take the test!
